The work
At TEACH.org, I build and maintain Tableau dashboards and serve as a Tableau Cloud site administrator. My work includes reporting on engagement and outcomes, along with updating views and filters as teams’ questions change.
The dashboard is the visible part of a larger process. The data needs to arrive in a usable form, measures need clear definitions, and people need to know where to find the report and how to interpret it.
Connecting the pieces
I look at reporting questions alongside the data and the workflow behind them. A request for another dashboard might call for a new view, a clearer filter, or a change in how information is collected and organized.
I also consider what it takes to maintain the reporting: which parts need updates, how those updates affect the numbers, and what people need to use the information themselves.
That’s the systems thinking in this work: making decisions about the data, the interface, and the ongoing process together.
